🤔 Who's responsible for change?

As the year winds down and the festive season approaches, the world seems to slow just enough for reflection. It’s a time when we gather with loved ones, indulge in meals that bring joy, and perhaps, unknowingly, magnify some of the challenges facing our food system - from waste to overindulgence. But what if this season could also spark a shift?

Who’s responsible for change? Governments? Companies? Schools? The truth is, we all have a role to play - citizens, businesses, policymakers, and retailers alike. The good news? Transforming food systems doesn’t require perfection. If billions of us make small, sustainable choices, the collective impact will shift the tide.

My latest opinion piece explores how small choices can drive massive change, particularly when systems align incentives to make sustainable options the easy, affordable, and desirable choice. Imagine:

  • Governments aligning policies to drive food innovation and future-proof farming practices
  • Retailers redesigning shelves to showcase plant-based, affordable alternatives
  • Companies creating innovative, tasty, nutritious, and accessible food solutions
  • And citizens—like you and I—choosing those options

What small changes are you thinking of making?

Wishing you very happy holidays - and I look forward to reconnecting in 2025.
