This month, the Swiss Food & Nutrition Valley is thrilled to announce the appointment of its new Managing Director, Christina Senn-Jakobsen.

As Managing Director, Christina will bring her wide-reaching experience in the food industry and a deep understanding of the needs from startups, SMEs corporations and the broader ecosystem. Having spent the past three years as Food Vertical Lead at the Zurich-based accelerator KickStart Innovation, she is most qualified to attract international talents to the Swiss market and shepherding collaborative projects between players in the food innovation ecosystem.

For Christina Senn-Jakobsen, food is the very basis of life. It’s why the Danish native, who has called Switzerland home for the last fourteen years, started her career by pursuing a Master’s in European Food Studies from Wageningen University. In this spotlight interview, Christina reflect on her journey and shares her commitment to promoting Switzerland as a hub for food and nutrition innovation:

Founded in 2019, Mirai Foods is a cultured meat producer that keeps the cells as they naturally occur in the animal without using genetic modification in the process. It focuses on three areas: bringing cellular agriculture products to the market quickly and safely, providing customers with better value, and designing products that offer superior health benefits.

Christina Senn-Jakobsen takes over her new position from Fathi Derder, who has been leading early implementation of the SFNV’s work for the past 18 months. The SFNV Committee extends its thanks to Mr. Derder for his contribution to the Swiss food innovation ecosystem during this time.
